| rollup summary in account, cannot reference a formula field in opportunity |

I have a formula field in my opportunties and I wanted to use a roll-up summary field in the account object so that I can find the minimum value of the field in all of the accounts opportunities. This does not seem to be possible :-( Why is this not possible, and can salesforce be changed so that I can do this ?
